Après avoir rajeuni mon premier Ken Jeans, je me suis dit pourquoi pas lui donner une boîte pour le protéger et le garder dans de meilleurs conditions. Je me suis fixé comme objectif de réaliser la copie exacte de sa boîte d'origine.
After rejuvenating my first Ken Jeans, I said to myself why not give him a box to protect and keep him in better conditions. I set myself the goal of making the exact copy of its original box.
Oh la la, quelle idée ! Je n'ai pas réalisé ce que représenterait ce défi. Je dirai que cela m'a pris environ 30 heures de travail, car je partais de rien, puisque je n'ai plus la boîte d'origine. Il a donc fallu faire des recherches pour savoir ce qui apparaissait sur chacune des six surfaces.
Oh la la, what an idea! I did not realize what this challenge would represent. I would say that it took me about 30 hours of work, because I have having nothing, since I no longer have the original box. It was therefore necessary to do research to find out what appeared on each of the six surfaces.
Pour les dimensions de la boîte, je me suis basé sur le boîte de Barbie Super Dance.
For the dimensions of the box, I based myself on the Great Shape Barbie box.
Une fois les dimensions prises et le traçage terminé, j'ai commencé le dessin du premier plan. L'avantage des boîtes des années fin 70 ou début 80, les modèles étaient représentés par des dessins et non par des photos. Je me suis dit : c'est un dessin, je peux le dessiner.
Once the dimensions are taken and the tracing finished, I started the drawing of the foreground. The advantage of the late 70s or early 80s boxes, the models were represented by drawings and not by photos. I said to myself: it's a drawing, I can draw it.
Une fois le dessin principal terminé, il a fallu travailler le lettrage et le logo de Mattel.
Once the main drawing is finished, we had to work the lettering and the Mattel logo.
Il a fallu répéter le lettrage sur chacune des six surfaces, faire de nouveaux des dessins sur la surface de l'arrière de la boîte.
It was necessary to repeat the lettering on each of the six surfaces, make new drawings on the surface of the back of the box.
Une fois les six surfaces terminées, il fallait découper la fenêtre par laquelle Ken sera visible.
Once the six surfaces are finished, you had to cut the window through which Ken will be visible.
Je devais trouver un plastique transparent et pliable pour l'installer sur la boîte de Ken. Ce fut difficile à trouver. Alors, il a fallu acheter une boîte de pâtisserie avec couvercle à fenêtre.
I had to find a transparent and foldable plastic to install it on the Ken box. It was difficult to find. So, we had to buy a pastry box with window cover.
Lors du pliage de la boîte rose et du fond de la boîte jaune, j'ai réalisé que la boîte n'était pas assez solide pour supporter le poids de Ken. Alors j'ai utilisé la boîte de pâtisserie pour solidifier le carton rose en collant le tout avec de la colle chaude.
When folding the pink box and the part of the yellow box, I realized that the box was not solid enough to support the weight of Ken. So I used the pastry box to solidify the pink card by sticking it all with hot glue.
